I Promise!

Yesterday Spring came by to say she's on her way back to town.
The sun was shining, and a friend showed up to play.

It was perfect weather for waking the roses
with a little pruning,

Cutting back and cleaning around fresh faces turned toward the blue sky.

Pots were pulled out of our little makeshift greenhouse.

Some friends, I thought lost forever during last year's heat, showed up with renewed courage
for another southern summer.

One long forgotten euphorbia was found laying on it's side trying to reach the sun,
all the while showing off her blooms.

Roger cleaned out a few containers and planted cool weather lettuces and herbs, while
I discovered a possible new boarder....

Do you see the bit of fur?
If all goes well we will have a baby rabbit.

Before the sun could bid it's farewell,
dark clouds sauntered in whispering in Spring's ear,
"Wait, your time is yet to come".

Today there is rain with only the slightest chill.
I'm not disappointed.
Everything is getting a bit of nature's healing nectar, and

thanks to a sweet and generous friend,
I have a new book to study.

Enjoy your day...
Spring is on her way.

I promise!

  1. I yes, PROMISES PROMISES are in the air, the trees and under the snow. I am sure to see some bunnies hopping around soon too, Bonnie! Isn't it exciting?

Thank you so much for coming by today! Anita

  2. It's nice to see she's stopped by your place. She's done a good job of stirring things up in your garden.

Now, could you send her up here?

  4. So many pretty photos! It is still gray and snowy here, but temps are on their way up, and my Dad and I agreed to call one another if we spotted anything spring-like. :)
    Enjoy!

  5. You are a week or so ahead of us and aside from the bulbs peeking their heads out of the ground, the only thing I have blooming is my Lenten Rose (yours is so pretty). . But there are promises.......

I hope you are doing better.

  6. Glad to read that you've had time to potter. After some lovely weather, we're back into snow showers and desperately cold temperatures. Hopefully it won't last! Jx

  7. Can I come visit...or live. We had a blizzard yesterday...10 more inches of snow and I'm stuck inside the house again. Do you really "promise!?" :)

  11. My goodness...everything looks fabulous!!! I cannot even begin to imagine getting ready for Spring yet...we had snow today, again.

I hope all goes well for the little rabbit, they are so cute even if they eat up the hard work one does in the garden.

I hope you have a wonderful week! Elizabeth

  12. Lovely almost Spring post..............better keep the little lettuces out of the baby bunny's reach - they'd make a tasty luncheon!

I see my euphorbia coming back a bit too, and the small magnolia tree I planted a couple of year's back is in bloom surrounded by bright tulips. Raining this morning so all will look fresh later when sun is promised.

I loved that book - passed it on to my teenage granddaughter - love to inspire youngsters with poetry and words.

    Happy week Bonnie -
    Hugs - Mary

  13. Bonnie - such a beautiful post...you captured my longing for spring in one post. We up north are not quite a far along as you dear southerners but there are signs here too. Thanks for lifting my heart - hope yours received a lift as well.

  14. Thank you Bonnie...but I'm enjoying my day because autumn is coming...both spring and autumn bring relief from the other two, harsh seasons. How much, I can see in your photos, you must be yearning for the warmth and re-birth, while I cannot wait for the heat to subside, to let the world relax.
