One week ago my Mother's Day weekend began quietly.
I worked at my desk until Roger arrived home after being out of town.
We visited a nearby restaurant for glass of wine and a light dinner, returning home with, my favorite spring dessert, strawberry shortcake.
The only plans I had for the weekend was to work. Roger reminded me
I had two weeks of school left; I might want to take a break and
relax a bit. I told him I would think about it.
While discussing our plans to go to the farmer's market and
possibly the nursery the next day my phone rang. I knew by
the ring who was calling.
"Hello my sweet girl"
"Hey mom. What's going on?"
"Not much. We just got in from having dinner. What are you guys up to?"
To be honest, I'm not for sure how she answered. We continued
to chat about the day when she ask,
"Hey, did you get a FedEx package today?"
"No, I didn't see anything when I was out earlier.
Roger have you been out the front door since you got home?"
Heather said there might be a package?"
(he ignored me)
"I've been tracking it online and it shows it was delivered this evening.
Do you mind going to check to see if it is outside."
"Roger would you check to see if there is a package by the door?"
(ignored again)
"Okay, I'm on my way... I'll check..hold on a minute..."
I opened the door and there was the most wonderful special delivery I could ever wish for.
Looking back at me was my beautiful daughter.
(Your might remember she surprised me last year)
Just one week ago I spent a wonderful Mother's Day weekend with my daughter.
We had a list of so many things to do, and I believe we managed to fit it all in.
Sunday morning I was gifted with a new addition to my not-so-
mediterranean garden, a sweet olive. How did she know it was
on my wish list?
There was also a very special handmade card with a dear message which I will cherish.
I pick it up and read it at least once a day.
Thank you Heather and Kyle.
One week ago,
I had the most wonderful weekend...
My heart is full.
